Swiss record club, label, publisher, and chain of stores. Ex Libris was founded in 1947 (originally as a book club) and is a subsidiary of Swiss retail company Migros. The record club was added in 1952 as "Grammoclub Ex Libris", shortened to simply "Ex Libris" around the mid 1960s. Originally, only club members were allowed to buy from their shops, and one had to pay a fee in order to become a member. Focus lay on classical music, jazz and easy listening, but Ex Libris had releases in the field of rock 'n' roll and beat as well.
