US record company that began as a subsidiary of Emerson Phonograph Company Inc. in 1921 and introduced its popular Regal label that year. When Emerson Phonograph Company Inc. went into receivership in early 1922, the Regal Record Company was sold to the Scranton Button Company. Regal was also affiliated with Plaza Music Company, which served as the sales and marketing arm for the records produced by Regal and pressed by Scranton Button Company. Throughout the 1920s, the Regal Record Company supplied masters to many mid-priced record labels, including Banner, Conqueror, Domino, Oriole and many other domestic and foreign labels. It ceased to operate as an independent record producer in July, 1929 when the company was merged along with Scranton Button Company and Cameo Record Corporation into the American Record Corporation.
