Teal Record Company Ltd. Zambia

Teal Record Company Ltd Zambia was a Zambian record company originally founded in 1973. Teal Zambia managed a number of labels under their umbrella. Some early records were released under the Teal label, but the company eventually created a number of sub labels used to represent different regions of Zambia. Teal owned a record pressing plant in Ndola that produced much of Zambia's recorded media, including for competitor companies such as Zambia Music Parlour. Teal operated in Zambia until the early 1990's when economic pressures, piracy and political turmoil led to the company's failure and closure. Sadly, most of the Teal's master recordings were lost following the company's demise.

* Afroar - (1984-1985) - Focused on the Zairian market with most records in Swahili and Lingala.
* Editions Juma - (1982-1983?) - Label specifically used for music by Peter Tsotsi
* Kafue - (1970s) - Appears to have been active in the late 1970's.
* Kalimba - (1982-1988) - Pop, Reggae and Rumba music
* Kariba - (1985-1992) - General titles.
* Kakonko - (197?-1983) - Label for the Northern and Luapula provinces of Zambia.
* Luangwa - ( 1970s) - Appears to have been active in the late 1970's.
* Luapula - (197?- 1992) - Label for the Northern and Luapula provinces of Zambia. Much of its output was music by Nashil Pichen Kazembe and related bands.
* Moombe - (1984-1986) - A small label that appears to have been managed by Greg Miyanda.
* Mutomboko Records - (1981-1986) - Kalindula and Soukous. Much of the music on this label was produced by Nashil Pichen Kazembe
* PJ (Peter Juma) - (1983-1986) - A later rebrand of Editions Juma, it was used specifically for music by Peter Tsotsi
* Songs Of Praise - (1979- 1990) - Label for Gospel music.
* Zambezi - (1975-1990) - Label used for music from much of central and western Zambia. This was Teal's most prolific label.
