Claxtonola

0 releases

U.S.A. record label (1921-1925) that was manufactured by The New York Recording Laboratories (Paramount) and later by Starr Piano Company (Gennett Records) for the Brenard Manufacturing Company of Iowa City, IA, makers of phonographs and radios. Shellac, 78 RPM, 10" releases. Earlier Claxtonola releases included material from Paramount's jazz and blues catalogs and ordinary pop vocals and dance tunes. These couplings correspond to Paramount's, plus 20000 (i.e. Claxtonola 40292 = Paramount 20292). Production of the label shifted to Starr Piano Company in early 1924 and continued the 40000 series. These releases do not correspond to catalog numbers of sourced Gennett Records material and most issues used artist pseudonyms.
