US label based in Chicago issuing recording by Blues and & Jazz musicians. It was founded by Robert G. Koester (originally as Delmar Records around 1953, named after the street of Koester's first record store in St. Louis, Missouri), then as Delmark Records in 1963 after a legal dispute. From 1958, the label was based in Chicago and, later in the 1960s, the company began to record jazz artists connected to the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians. The first ever issue was by the traditional jazz group, Sammy Gardner And The Fabulous Windy City Six (Delmar DLP 101), which features Muggsy Spanier.
