Established by Stephen Swid, Martin Bandier and Charles Koppelman (SBK), specifically to acquire CBS, Inc. publishing arm (CBS Songs) including - Blackwood Music Inc., April Music Inc. etc.. and subsidiaries. The various companies acquired from CBS, Inc. included the rights (catalogues) to over 250,000 songs.
On the 2nd June 1989 the company is subsequently acquired by Thorn Emi Plc for US$295m and later renamed EMI Entertainment World Inc.
