Sarm Hook End

Sarm Studio, Hook End was a UK residential recording studio, occupying a converted barn space in the manor house (built in 1580) once owned by Alvin Lee.
Lee created the studio, which was known as Space Studios and where was recorded. Upon Lee's departure, to a new studio location, the property was briefly owned by Dave Gilmour and was host to Pink Floyd (See also: Hookend Studios). The location was then converted again by Trevor Horn in the 1990s and became Sarm Studio, Hook End, at the time featuring one of the UK's largest SSL consoles - a 96-channel J Series frame with 80 modules. The manor provided 14 bedrooms, a gym and in-house chef. Horn then subsequently purchased Chris Blackwell's Basing Street Studios in 1982 which became Sarm West Studios. Horn sold it in 2007 after the tragic, accidental shooting death of his wife, Jill Sinclair. It has since been reopened for recording under the name Hook End Studios.
