Word, Inc.

U.S. record company that operated the Christian music label Wordplay Records. The company emerged around 1967, after the merger of Word Records, Inc. and the Word Distributing Company.
In 1974, Word Inc. was acquired by ABC Inc. and later it became part of Capital Cities/ABC Inc..
In 1992 Capital Cities/ABC Inc. sold the company to Thomas Nelson, Inc. in 1992 for $72 million.
