- Lansdowne Studio London
Known for its Lansdowne Series (and Lansdowne Jazz Series), Lansdowne Studios was the creation of recording supervisor Denis Preston, with assistance from engineers Adrian Kerridge and Joe Meek who found the premises.
Denis Preston had supervised many recordings in the early to mid 1950s (mainly whilst at I.B.C. Studios), and continued at Lansdowne. Usually these issues have a 'Record Supervision/Ltd' credit. The building housing the studio was constructed in 1902 by William Flodthart, a South African diamond millionaire who wanted to provide a place where struggling painters could work. The main recording studio was originally a squash court, and the control room the smoking room.
The studio, by then owned by Adrian Kerridge, closed in September 2006, and was converted into private housing.
People known to have worked here:
Recording Supervisor: Denis Preston.
Engineers: Ash Howes, Adrian Kerridge, Joe Meek, Dave Baker, Bob Butterworth, Peter Gallen, Chris Dibble, Vic Keary, sound engineer Jonathan Miller (3), and Mark Tucker.
For the Irish studio please use Lansdowne Studios Dublin.
