Strawberry Mastering

0 releases

Mastering and lacquer cutting studio in London, UK, opened around May 1978, closed 1983. Do not confuse with Strawberry Studios South in Dorking, England or Strawberry Studios, France in Hérouville.

The studio was founded at the instigation of 10cc's Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman, who had previously founded Strawberry Studios in Stockport (also referred to as "Strawberry North"). They insisted on having their records cut at I.B.C. Studios by Melvyn Abrahams and it was their manager Ric Dixon's idea to establish their own state of the art mastering suite. Dixon, Abrahams and David Moores became managing directors, with Abrahams also serving as studio manager. The studio was designed by Tom Hidley of Eastlake. Strawberry was one of the most expensive mastering studios in the UK, but also one of the most highly regarded.

Cutting equipment: Neumann VMS 70 lathe with Ortofon CPS cutting control unit and Ortofon cutter head.
