On July 25, 1952, an agreement was reached with Mezhdunarodnaya Kniga for Leeds to act as the exclusive licensing agent in North America for Soviet recordings (in an attempt to stop unauthorized releases). A number of US labels would go on to license tapes from Leeds in the following years, such as Vanguard, Westminster, and Monitor Records (2). The deal was renewed again in 1956 for an additional 5 years.
