EMI Belgium SA/NV

0 releases

Belgian EMI branch, preceded by S.A. Gramophone N.V. and succeeded by EMI Music Belgium NV/SA.

Apart from the EMI labels, from 1973 on the company also distributed WEA International Inc. and MCA Records in Belgium and Luxemburg. In 1983 it acquired International Bestseller Company and MFP Belgium (which had remained independent after the EMI take-over of Music For Pleasure in 1971).

Though its predecessor is on record as operating a studio and pressing plant, EMI Belgium did not. For manufacturing it relied on foreign sister companies (mostly Bovema-EMI and Pathé Marconi EMI, but also EMI ITALIANA S.p.A.) and on local pressing plants (such as Fonopers, N.T.T. or Harry's). For domestic pressings master lacquers were cut by Discofoon from 1972 on.
