Independent Pressing Co.

0 releases

Nottingham-based record manufacturer (mastering, metalworks, pressing).
IPC was established in June 1998 by K.W.S. with equipment purchased in Guatemala while on tour with K.W.S. in the early 1990s.
The plant operated 10 Toolex Alpha presses and can be identified by the unique pressing rings during the period of June 1998 - March 2008 and the runout etching IPC.
Plating was done by galvanics technician James Baddeley who can be identified by the following runout etchings: JBAD@IPC, J-BAD@IPC, JB@IPC, JBAD and JB.
IPC also had a recording/mastering studio.

The plant is known for the ill-fated partnership between King and George Peckham and Neil Clowes. All three were partners in the plant but apparently things went wrong and Peckham ended up receiving a court order from Nottingham County Council for non payment of rents of £30.000. Eventually, he was forced to sell a Rickenbacker guitar he received from George Harrison. The company went into voluntary creditors liquidation in March 2008 and was finally dissolved in October 2009. The equipment was partly sold to the London-based pressing plant Total Vinyl Ltd. (which later became Only Vinyl and is now part of GZ Vinyl).
