UK-based music publishing company established by Chris Blackwell and associated with Island Records Ltd. Incorporated 21 May 1963.
In 1989 the "Island Records Group Ltd." which the company was a subsidiary, was acquired by Polygram N.V. On 10 December 1998 Polygram N V. (PolyGram) was subsequently acquired by the Canadian firm "The Seagram Company Ltd." who already owned the Universal Music Group. On 30 July 1999, Island Music Ltd. was renamed Universal/Island Music Ltd.
