Brothers Johnson

American soul/funk/jazz/disco band.

Formed in 1975 in Los Angeles, California, USA, led by brothers Donald Johnson and J.J. Johnson. Initially their line-up also included their cousin Alex Weir.

They both started their careers as backing musicians of Bobby Womack, Billy Preston, et al., before later going it alone under the guidance of producer Quincy Jones, who brought them to prominence using them on his own album "101778" (1975).

They recorded eight albums between 1976 and 1988, and are most famous for their disco smash "162779" (1980), and their cover of the Shuggie Otis classic "16857" (1977).
