In 1988, he was appointed Music Director of the Mariinsky Theatre, and, in 1996, he became its Artistic and General Director (leading the orchestra and opera and ballet companies). Principal conductor of [a1886097] (1988-present), [a1024263] (1995-2008), The London Symphony Orchestra (2006 to 2015), [a261451] (2015 to 2022). He served as principal guest conductor of [a1411686] from 1997 to 2008. Contracts and positions terminated in March 2022 by [a261451], [a1024263], [a841593], and Wiener Philharmoniker.
