British record label executive, artist manager and producer, often credited as Steve Brown; died 24 December 2017, aged 72. He played a prominent role during Elton John's early career.

Not to be confused with prolific British producer and engineer Steve Brown, who worked with a.o. ABC, George Michael, Alison Moyet and The Pogues.

Having started his career in 1966 at Electric & Musical Industries Ltd., Stephen Brown (2) moved to Dick James Music Ltd. and worked as music coordinator for Elton John from about 1969 to 1976. He produced his first album 84198 and also worked in coordination / management roles for a.o. Kiki Dee, Nigel Olsson, Bernie Taupin and Ralph McTell. He was one-time "head of label" of DJM Records (assisted by Stuart Epps) and in 1972 co-founded The Rocket Record Company. Between 1976 and 1986 he remained out of the music industry but then returned to work for John Reid Enterprises Ltd., managing Billy Connolly and again doing management duties for Elton John between about 1986 and at least about 1995. He owned Tickety-Boo Records and Tickety-Boo Studios.
