Real Name: John Frederick Gustafson

John "Gus" Gustafson was an English bass player, vocalist, songwriter and an allround musician of Swedish descent, also known as Johnny Gustafson. He was born August 8, 1942 in Liverpool, He sang the role as Simon Zealotes on the 1970 double album [m79753] - the first ever musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber And Tim Rice - where Ian Gillan was Jesus Christ. After Ian Gillan's first four years with Deep Purple (during which time Gustafson played on three albums with Roxy Music), they would later play together in various incarnations of Ian Gillan Band, after they'd both sung on each a track on [m247447] in October 1975.

John Gustafson, father of five children in two marriages, died from cancer September 12, 2014 in Whitstable, Kent, UK after a lengthy recording and live performance career, where he always put his family first..
