Robin Clark

Real Name: Sharon Ilo Hershiser

American vocalist / background singer. Born: 1949/1950 in New York City, USA. Best known for her work as a vocalist on Once Upon A Time, a 1985 multi-platinum album by the Scottish band Simple Minds as well as David Bowie's Young Americans album and the Young Americans tour. She has also contributed to recordings of such artists as David Bowie, Melba Moore, Brooklyn, Bronx & Queens Band, Luther Vandross, Al Green, Bette Midler Recloose Fatboy Slim, Fonzi Thornton, Frankie Valli Leona Lewis MM81 Natalie Cole David Bronson Scissor Sisters Dreams Come True etc.

Clark was born in New York to Bill Clarke & Rita Clark. In 1966, when Clark was 16, she and future singer and songwriter Luther Vandross worked together after school in the stockroom at Alexander's department store in Manhattan. They started singing together in High School and then joined a 16-member group called Listen My Brother, which was managed by the owners of the Apollo Theater. Clark began dating Listen My Brother member and Puerto Rican guitarist Carlos Alomar well known as David Bowie's musical director and guitarist. They were married in 1970. Their daughter, Lea-Lorién, is also a Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and recording artist.

From 1969 to the present, Clark has performed vocals on tours, albums, radio, television shows and commercials, including the long running TV jingle Jamaica One Love for the Jamaica Tourist Board. She has also performed vocals in movie soundtracks, and appeared in films and videos. Clark performed as a guest vocalist on the 1985 Simple Minds album Once Upon A Time and from 1985 to 1987 she was featured on Simple Minds' Alive And Kicking world tour. Robin has also appeared on several recordings for her long time friend Luther Vandross as well as touring with Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patty Scialfa. In 2013 Clark appeared in the BBC released documentary David Bowie's 5 Years and 2014's Academy Award winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom.
