Real Name: Carmine Ugo Mariano

American jazz saxophonist and nagasvaram (a South Indian double reed wind instrument) player.
Born November 12, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Died June 16, 2009 in Cologne (Köln), Germany).
He played with several big bands in the USA and Asia during the 1950s and 1960s, and co-led a quartet with his then-wife Toshiko Akiyoshi (their daughter is Monday Michiru) before moving to Europe. He added the Malaysian nadaswaram and Indian instruments to his repertoire. He changed his name to Charles Hugo Mariano.
