Moved to Los Angeles in 1944. Performed with Charlie Parker in 1946 when he was based on the West Coast. Led a group consisting of 17 beboppers in the period 1948-50 featuring Art Farmer and Eric Dolphy, which recorded for Savoy Records. Intermittently musically active in the following years, though in the 1970s, led the [a47382].
