Real Name: Anthony Dominick Benedetto

American singer of traditional pop standards, big band, show tunes, and jazz (born August 3, 1926 in Astoria, Queens, New York, USA – died July 21, 2023 in New York, New York, USA).

Bennett recorded his first two songs, "Vieni Qui" and "Fascinatin’ Rhythm,” in 1949 under the pseudonym Joe Barile for Leslie Records, Inc.

In 1950, Bennett began his long-time association with the Columbia label, using the name Tony Bennett. With "Because of You" (Columbia 39362), he scored his first number 1 hit in 1951. Starting in 1963, he won a total of 20 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000.

Bennett was also a painter. Many of his works, which he signed as Anthony Benedetto, are on permanent public display in several institutions.
