Vic Keary

British audio engineer, producer, arranger, studio owner and designer and label owner (11 October 1938 - 4 October 2022).

Founded and designed his first studio above a cow-shed in 1957 and three years later moved to Lansdowne Studios, starting as a maintenance engineer. Afterwards successively owned, designed and operated Maximum Sound Studios (1964-1968), Chalk Farm Studios (1968-1982) and Chiswick Reach (1992-1998). His studios were famed for their reggae productions, especially Chalk Farm was favoured by Trojan Records.

During the 1980s he worked freelance doing studio maintenance, vinyl disc mastering and location recordings. In the 2000s he moved into professional audio equipment manufacturing, commercialising his innovative all-valve designs through Thermionic Culture (founded in 1999 with Jon Bailes).

Also (co-)owned the labels Mushroom (2), Manic Records, GBM Records (2) and Domain (2).
