Wing Records was a subsidiary of [l=Mercury] Records founded in 1955 that enjoyed its greatest initial success during the mid-1950s, mostly with vocalist [a=Nick Noble]. It released singles briefly in 1955 and 1956 but focus quickly shifted to LPs.

It became a budget reissue label in August 1958 in the US, and was launched as a similar budget label by Philips, Mercury's European owner, in the UK in February 1965 (UK Wing LPs had a logo that read [b]A Philips Records Product[/b] on their covers; Philips and Mercury catalog material were issued on the label). Mercury in the US retired the label along with [l=Smash (4)] and [l=Fontana] in 1970.

In 1987, under Mercury president Ed Eckstein, Wing was revived as an R&B label and had successes with [a=Vanessa Williams], [a=Tony! Toni! Toné!] and [a=Brian McKnight]. The label was deactivated in 1995 and its remaining artists (by then only Williams and McKnight) were transferred to parent label Mercury.
