In 1969 Electric & Musical Industries Ltd. Svenska AB and Capitol Industries, Inc. acquired 50% of Toshiba Musical Industries Ltd. and was renamed Toshiba EMI Ltd on 1 October, 1973. On the 3rd Oct 1994 Toshiba-EMI Ltd (TOEMI) becomes a subsidiary of Thorn Emi Plc after it increases it's shareholding in the company from 50% to 55% and gains a controlling interest. On June 2007, EMI Group Plc acquired all remaining shares of the company and Toshiba EMI Ltd. is subsequently renamed EMI Music Japan Inc.
