Record company (copyright holder) behind the label Chrysalis, operating under this name since 1 May 1970. Formerly incorporated as Chrysalis Productions Ltd.
The roots of the company were co-founded by Chris Wright CBE and Terry Ellis in 1968.
On 6 August 1987 the company acquired Dover Records Ltd., followed on 21 Oct 1987 by the acquisition of the entire share capital of Chrysalis GmbH. In 1988 Chrysalis Records Ltd was acquired by EMI Records Ltd.
In 2016 Parlophone Records Ltd. (formerly known as EMI Records Ltd.) sold the company to Blue Raincoat Music although it retained the rights to several former Chrysalis catalogues, assigning them to Parlophone Records Ltd. plus the right to use the Chrysalis branding on these.
The label is now operated in partnership with Reservoir Media Management.
