0 releases

Matsushita Media Manufacturing was a CD-R and DVD manufacturing plant located in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland. The facility was originally established in February 1996 as a CD-R manufacturing plant by Eastman Kodak Co., operating under the company Kodak Cork Ltd.

In December 1999, Eastman Kodak Company went into a joint venture with Panasonic Disc Services Corporation (PDSC), a subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Ind. Co., Ltd., to establish Matsushita Media Manufacturing LLC of America, a company that aimed to increase DVD and other optical disc manufacturing capabilities available to both Eastman Kodak and Panasonic, including at Eastman Kodak's plant in Youghal. The plant then came under the name Matsushita Media Manufacturing.

In late 2001, Eastman Kodak decided to cease CD-R manufacturing operations, and sold its 49% share of Matsushita Media Manufacturing LLC to PDSC. Matsushita Electric sold PDSC to Technicolor in the first half of 2002, at which time the Youghal plant came under Technicolor's ownership. The Youghal plant (then operating under the name Technicolor Home Entertainment Services) was eventually closed in early 2003, after which its equipment and operations were shifted to other Technicolor plants in Cwmbran, Wales and Piaseczno, Poland.

Matsushita Media Manufacturing, Youghal, Ireland can be identified by the combination of 'MMM' and 'MADE IN IRELAND' in the disc matrix, usually in combination with mould SID code IFPI KP**.
