Brunswick Record Corporation

0 releases

Company producing the Brunswick label, commonly printed as Brunswick Record Corp.

The company name Brunswick Record Corporation was introduced in 1932, after the American Record Corporation (ARC) had leased the Brunswick brand name from Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc. in December 1931. Until mid-1932, however, the older company name Brunswick Radio Corporation continued to be used on U.S. Brunswick releases.

In December 1938, Columbia Broadcasting Systems (CBS) acquired American Record Corporation (ARC) and the rights to the Brunswick label name. In April 1940, however, CBS discontinued the Brunswick label (last CBS issue: Brunswick 8520). As this was a violation of the original lease contract, the rights to the Brunswick trademark returned to Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc.. In May 1941, this company sold the rights to the Brunswick name and all Brunswick matrices recorded prior to December 1931 to Decca Records, Inc..
