Cie Française Du Gramophone (Compagnie Française du Gramophone) was a French subsidiary company of The Gramophone Co. Ltd. established in 1899.
Its head office was in Paris, with a factory first in Ivry-Sur-Seine (since 1907) and then at Nogent-Sur-Marne.
The shellac pressing plant started to apply a matrix scheme "Mx #####" in the late 1920s, where x is the format identifier:
'3' for 10" (e.g. M3-77850)
'6' for 12" (e.g. M6-60401).
The 5 digit numeral code is a unique plant identifier and both numbers can be added as LCCN numbers with Pressed By.
Usually (but not always) both runouts share the first 4 digits and the last one is incremented.

In 1936, Electric & Musical Industries Ltd. (EMI) (owner of The Gramophone Co. Ltd.) effects a merger of Compagnie Francaise De Gramophone with Compagnie Générale de Etablissements Pathé Fréres (French subsidiary of Columbia Graphophone Company Ltd.) to form Les Industries Musicales Et Electriques Pathé Marconi.
The shellac pressing plant also moved to Chatou (Yvelines) in 1936 (see Pathé Marconi, Chatou). Matrices higher than Mx-83070 belong there.
