ASR Recording Service

ASR Recording Service was an independent tape duplication company established in 1974 by Sani Rothberg and Al Weintraub. The first plant was located in Fairfield, NJ, and later moved to Glen Rock, NJ. The New Jersey locations were referred to as ASR East. In the late 1970s, a West Coast factory was established in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, CA. The Canoga Park facility was acquired by DOCdata N.V. in December 1997 and continued activity as DOCdata California.

CDs manufactured by ASR Recording Service can be identified by a matrix number in the form ASR#nnnnn-n plus/minus mould SID code IFPI 6R**. Please enter such CDs in LCCN as:
Pressed By – ASR Recording Service – ASR#nnnnn [without the final -1]

Please note that the same SID codes were used by successor owners of the Canoga Park pressing plant/equipment, so ASR Recording Service should not be credited based on SID codes without the ASR#nnnnn-n matrix number.
