Underground was one of the first major sublabels of Media Records, launched in 1989 as a pop-house label (matrix number's 5**). After a lot of commercial success the label was relaunched in 1996 as the 'younger sister' of BXR, one of the most popular Italian techno-progressive labels. With a new catalogue number series, this time 10**, and a new logo, the label became a kind of laboratory for a new visions of techno, more experimental and clubby than BXR.
