Outland records started of in 1991 as a label of the famous Amsterdam record store Outland Records.
Together with Outland Records (club orientated) also a label called Spiritual Records (techno orientated) was born. Both labels used the same catnumbers, starting with "trip". Outland Records used the trip 0xx serie, where Spiritual Records was catalogued with trip 1xx.
Famous for its Dadara sleeves, and excellent techno tracks, Outland was soon wanted all over the world. Unfortunately and due to internal problems under management of the first owner, the labels went bankrupt in the summer of 1997. Here fore original releases on Outland records are worth a lot of money these days.
In 1999 the labels were taken over by Rhythm Import in The Hague. They also started with a new cat# serie OUTxxx for Outland Records and SPRxxx for Spiritual Records. Rhythm Import went bankrupt in 2003, which was also the end of both labels.
The label was relaunched in 2005 by Jeroen Krom (aka DJ Jerome) who took over the running of the shop after working as it's manager for over 10 years.
In 2010 Jerome and the label has joined forces with Artform label boss Jamie Anderson as a joint project between the UK and The Netherlands.
