VP Records
US-based record company, label and distributor founded by [a=Vincent "Randy" Chin] and his wife Patricia Chin. Globally the largest independent reggae label.
In 1977, the Chins moved from Jamaica and opened up a store at 170-03 Jamaica Avenue, and then 170-21 Jamaica Avenue in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York. The label is named after [b]V[/b]incent and his wife [b]P[/b]atricia ([a390692]).
With the acquisition of Greensleeves Records, VP controls more than 25,000 titles. It was named 1999 Billboard reggae label of the year. VP has had licensing deals with several major labels, [l=Atlantic Records]. WEA Manufacturing made several of its titles during the 1990s.
